Nanjing Medical University
Nanjing Medical University, founded in 1934, is one of the top institutions of higher learning in China. Located in the beautiful city of Nanjing, which used to be the capital of six ancient Chinese dynasties and is currently the capital of Jiangsu province, the University now comprises of the College of Basic Medical Sciences, the First College of Clinical Medicine, the Second College of Clinical Medicine, the Third College of Clinical Medicine, the School of Public Health, the School of Stomotological Medicine, Kanga College, the School of Continuing Education for Adults and the School of Social Sciences, and others. NMU also offers 37 Masters programs, 8 Doctoral programs and 2 Post Doctoral research programs. At present it has 12 affiliated hospitals, 23 teaching hospitals and 3 teaching centres for Disease Control and Prevention, which provide both the faculty and students with excellent settings for Teaching and Research activities. The University also houses 3 laboratories and 7 subjects. Recognized as academic leaders in Jiangsu Province, 11 research institutes and 20 research centres. In addition several other research facilities are located throughout the campus, such as the National Clinical Pharmacology Lab., Jiangsu Branch of Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine and Jiangsu Provincial Research Centre for Cardiovasology Diseases. The university is officially accredited by the Ministry of Public Health of China as a national medical training base and receives advanced scholars and students both at home and abroad. Among the faculty, more than 200 are full professors, more than 600 associate professors, 270 supervisors for master's programs and 60 doctoral program supervisors and it also invites international professors for its newly introduced five and half year English medium undergraduate and 3 years Masters programs. Currently, more than 20,000 students are on campus during each academic year. Nanjing Medical University takes an active part in extensive exchanges with higher education institutions at home and abroad. Since the 1980s, the university has established cooperation and academic exchange relationships with medical institutions and hospitals in countries and regions like the USA, Japan, Canada, France, Germany, U.K, Austria, Australia, Russia, Nepal, India, Pakistan and Hong Kong for cooperation and academic exchanges. With a view to promote cultural and academic exchanges internationally, Nanjing Medical University has enrolled students for advanced studies from over 40 countries in the world.
